For those who are fortunate enough to have deep pockets, and don't want to jump on the SUV bandwagon, there is always a nice large size luxury sedan. While the market trend on this front shows more and more luxury SUVs coming in the next few years, the charm and elegance of a large luxury sedan will not go anywhere. And if one of the big car makers is proof of this fact, one can see the arrival of new & better iterations of all the famous sedans in this segment - there are Germany, Japan, and of course, the great American Marque too. Among the most prolific American brands, this is none other than Lincoln, and their big, bad boy who fights in the luxury sedan department is their own mainstay, the new Continental.

The Lincoln Continental signboard has actually been around for the last fifty years, but a new tenth generation avatar appeared at the end of 2016. It was built on Ford's CD4 platform, similar to its MKZ siblings, and when it went on sale, the new Continental was effectively replacing the aging MKS. In the UAE, Lincoln Continental rivals Cadillac CT6, BMW 7-Series, Genesis G90, and Lexus LS.

Exterior

Unlike some of the more striking competitors from Europe or Asia, the Lincoln Continental exterior is rather quiet but with a touch of elegance and class. This is quite interesting and welcomes changes from several cars (especially the American ones) that glitter with excess chrome. Instead, the new Continental relies on elegant contours, smooth but visible character lines, and certain unique features that are specific to Continental. The front fascia combines the trademark chrome grille with the Lincoln emblem with backlights, stylish full LED multi-element headlamps, clean hood design with small folds, and integrated bumper air intake ducts, elegant chrome decoration, and LED fog lamps that placed horizontally.

The most prominent design features along the proportional Continental side profile come in the form of a wing wing mirror mounted with a handle, chrome E-Latch door handles placed along the window line, distinctive hamstrings, and a large multi-spoke 20 wheels -inch. The simple rear rear of Continental, a sophisticated LED tail lamp is equipped with a clear "Lincoln" branding, a large trunk lid, and a neatly integrated dual exhaust tip under the bumper. Lincoln Continental measures 5,115 meters long, 2,090 meters wide and 1,487 meters high. It boasts a wheelbase of 2,994 meters, while the overall boot capacity is 473 liters.

Inland

The Lincoln Continental cabin is a luxury room and, like its competitors, is most experienced when used as a seat of four. Most surfaces are covered with supple leather, metal accents or wood veneers, and there are few (if any) signs of cost cutting.

Lincoln has thrown away some good features, including radar-guided cruise control, dual-panel sunroof, hands-free release, adaptive dampers, active noise dampers, two-zone climate control, 10-speaker sound system, 10-speaker sound system, camera surround-view, 8.0-inch touch infotainment system, and head-up display. Then there are eight airbags, rubber seat belts, lane-keep assists, collision detection with automatic braking etc.

Engine and performance

The most powerful variant of Lincoln Continental makes 370hp and 575Nm from the 3.0-liter, twin-turbocharged six-cylinder. This motorbike is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission and an all-wheel-drive system. At full speed, Continental will move at an electronically limited top speed of 250 km / h, while speeds of 0-100 km / h are performed & cleaned in 5.6 seconds. Not bad for a car that is specifically tuned for maximum comfort and performance that is not entirely bad.
